Getting Started

How do I use MeloTune?

  1. Upon opening, MeloTune starts with your saved mood (or default calm mood for first-time users)
  2. Tap the large center play button to start your music session
  3. MeloTune generates a personalized playlist matching your mood
  4. Swipe the middle panel left/right to select songs
  5. Move the meter bar to discover playlists that match your mood

How do the Emotion and Energy meters work?

MeloTune uses two meters: Emotion (how you feel) and Energy (your activity level). Move the meter bar to set your current state, and MeloTune maps your settings to one of 100 different mood types (like Happy, Calm, Energetic, Melancholic, etc.) to find the perfect music match.

Do I need a music streaming service?

iOS: Yes, an active Apple Music subscription is required to play full tracks. MeloTune uses Apple Music to stream millions of songs based on your mood.

Android: Yes, a Spotify account (free or premium) is required. MeloTune uses Spotify to stream millions of songs based on your mood. Some features may require Spotify Premium for full functionality.

Using the App

How do I control playback?

  • Center Play Button (Single Tap): Play/Pause music
  • Center Play Button (Long Press): Generate playlist of similar songs to currently playing track
  • Album Card (Swipe Left): Skip to next song
  • Album Card (Swipe Right): Go to previous song
  • Album Card (Single Tap): Flip card to view song details

How do I save favorite songs?

Flip the album card (tap it) to see song details, then tap the heart icon in the top right to save as favorite.

To view your favorites: Tap the floating favorite button (heart icon) in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Favorites are saved with mood context so you can replay songs with the same mood later.

How do I use fullscreen mode?

Double-tap anywhere on the screen to toggle fullscreen mode on/off.

Fullscreen mode hides all UI elements for an immersive music experience and prevents screen dimming.

App won't play music

iOS:

  • Verify you have an active Apple Music subscription
  • Check your internet connection
  • Grant MusicKit permissions in Settings > Privacy > Media & Apple Music
  • Try restarting the app

Android:

  • Verify you have an active Spotify account and are logged in
  • Check your internet connection
  • Ensure Spotify app is installed and up to date
  • Grant necessary permissions to MeloTune in Settings
  • Try restarting the app

Playlist not loading

  • Ensure you're connected to the internet
  • iOS: Check if Apple Music is accessible in your region
  • Android: Check if Spotify is accessible in your region and you're logged in
  • Try selecting a different mood
  • Restart the app

App crashes or freezes

  • Update to the latest version of MeloTune
  • iOS: Update iOS to the latest version
  • Android: Update Android to the latest version
  • Force close and restart the app
  • Restart your device
